XPhoton Open Innovation Challenge is a formula for successfully finding solutions that will make companies advance in Biomedical Optics & Medical Imaging industry, solve a common customer need, by providing a monetary award to an Individual researcher or Institution and recognition for bringing research to the Biomedical Optics & Medical Imaging market.
Participants: Companies in the Biomedical Optics & Medical Imaging industry will benefit from a large network of applied photonics researchers and innovators willing to contribute to bring research closer to market needs. Engineers, Scientists, students and research institutions will collaborate to address needs companies face but might not be aware they can be addressed by photonics based technologies.
Challenges: The identification and articulation of the a major industry and company obstacle that when resolved, will have positively impact within the Biomedical Optics & Medical Imaging sector. It doesn’t have to be a huge concept filled with noble promise, it can be a practical challenge as well.
Awards: Companies are free to choose the monetary award. The money prize companies will pay to the best solution varies depending on many factors including the market opportunity addressed or the Intellectual Property Rights Conditions (IPR) of the challenge defined by the company: leaving the inventor with IPR, a partial or total transfer of the IPR to the company.
Competition time frame: In order to allow teams enough time to succeed, duration of two to twelve Months is essential, while ensuring outpace the competition during 2015.
