2015 XPhoton Open Innovation Challenge

XPhoton Open Innovation Challenge is a formula for successfully finding solutions that will make companies advance their industry, solve a common customer need, and/or address an important challenge that affects humankind by inviting the world’s best minds to apply their technical or scientific talent to the problem or opportunity at hand.

An XPhoton Open Innovation Challenge is a highly leveraged, incentivized prize contest that based on specific needs companies well established in their market has but had never been address to world class of scientist researchers using Photonics based technologies.

It captures the world’s imagination and inspires scientists, students, engineers to reach for similar goals, spurring innovation and accelerating the rate of positive change by addressing tangible and marketable needs.

Objective

The objective is to bring about breakthroughs with light-based technologies for the benefit of humankind, thereby inspiring the formation of new industries and the revitalization of markets that are currently stuck due to lack of technology or a commonly held belief that a solution is not possible in alignment of the 2015 year of the light and light-based technologies (www.light2015.org).

We believe on the importance of raising global awareness about how light-based technologies can address the world's and industry challenges by creating and managing significant, high-profile, incentivized contest with a specific target that stimulate innovation and investment in research and development on photonics technologies worth far more than the prize itself. This raise the global awareness about light-based technologies motivates and inspires brilliant innovators to leverage their intellectual and financial capital.
