CMOS plenoptic detector for LED applications

CMOS PLENOPTIC DETECTOR FOR LED APPLICATIONS

Tech for Transfer

TTO

17-01-2016

This invention provides a new CMOS-compatible plenoptic (angle and wavelength) detector for LED lighting applications. The sensor has both high spectral and angular resolution. Furthermore, such a sensor can be based on a scalable silicon IC platform to meet mass-market cost targets, have a low profile for broad installation flexibility, and does not have any moving parts such as a grating rotation for manufacturing and operational simplicity and robustness.

Ultrahigh bitrate optical pulses on photonic chips

ULTRAHIGH BITRATE OPTICAL PULSES ON PHOTONIC CHIPS

Tech for Transfer

TTO

17-01-2016

With the advent of ever faster telecommunication data rates, it is important to achieve clock speeds faster than 1 THz not limited by the optical pulse width, and to do so in a scalable approach. Soliton-effect pulse compression can offer a route to realize femtosecond pulses at multi-GHz repetition rates, in an integrated photonic chip. This invention provides an apparatus capable of generating optical pulses using photonic crystal waveguides on integrated circuits for optical communication applications at ultrahigh bitrates.

Optically-Pumped Laser Spark Ignition System

OPTICALLY-PUMPED LASER SPARK IGNITION SYSTEM

Tech for Transfer

TTO

18-01-2016

This technology presents an optically pumped laser spark ignition system with relatively low power requirements compared to other systems allowing for the use of optical fibers for distributing the low peak energy pumping pulses to a laser amplifier or a laser oscillator. A laser spark system has applications in natural gas-fueled reciprocating engines, turbine combustors, explosives and laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy diagnostic sensors.
