Controlled Tuning of Optical Resonators and Photonic Crystal Waveguides

CONTROLLED TUNING OF OPTICAL RESONATORS AND PHOTONIC CRYSTAL WAVEGUIDES

Tech for Transfer

TTO

16-12-2015

This technology provides a high precision method for achieving controlled tuning of the resonant wavelength of an optical resonator and a method for tuning the dispersion properties of photonic crystal waveguides. This technology also provides an automated manufacturing design process that can determine the initial operating wavelength and provide the precise deposition steps to achieve a desired operating wavelength in photonic crystals waveguides.

PHOTONIC CRYSTALS PROVIDING ENHANCED STIMULATED RAMAN LASING

Tech for Transfer

TTO

16-12-2015

Photonic crystals with a layer of Silicon having a lattice of holes and a linear defect that forms a waveguide are configured to receive pump light and output Stokes light through Raman scattering. The thickness of the layer of Silicon, the spacing of the lattice of holes, and the size of the holes are dimensioned to provide enhanced Raman lasing.

Hidden author

16-12-2015

This invention provides an electrochemical device with improved switching characteristics suitable for manufacturing with current printing techniques. The device includes an electrochemically active layer with the ability of electrochemically altering its redox state. By providing a portion of an electrode of corrosion resistant material between an electrolyte and an electrochemically active layer, undesired discoloration due to the electrochemical reactions is reduced.

It is often desirable to control the contrast of specific regions of an image in a variety of applications despite extreme variations in brightness of light emanating from neighboring regions. For example, intensified CCD cameras used for night vision suffer from blooming and halo, meaning that distant, bright sources of light look larger and closer than they are, because the excess charge on the CCD "spills over" into adja- cent areas. This results in distortion and/or masking of the portion of the image originating near the bright light source.
